Regarding the discussion of Fresnel lenses:
It was suggested that Fresnel lenses are not good for quality imaging. In
general I think that is true, but I was under the impression that they are used
in many 35 mm camera view finders in bright viewing screens, so it would seem
that if well made they can be useful in some imaging applications.
(BTW - I think it should be capital "F" - named for Augustin J. Fresnel if I
can believe my dictionary - my memory wants to tell me he was a mathematician).
